Less than a week to go, it's time to take time out and think about how you got here. First of congratulations for making the commitment. You may be excited, you may be nervous and your maybe feeling a whole of emotions.

As a first task for Monday its time to reflect and write about your journey so far. What I'd like you to write about is how you got here. What were you thinking and feeling along the way, when did you decide to go, what held you back - describe in some detail the first phase of your journey - the preparation phase. Also its important to describe how you feel now and start to share and trust with the team. You as a team are in the best position to support each other so be honest about your fears, concerns, hopes, excitement. Discuss these together and help each other to reflect and write something meaningful and worthwhile.

Abbie: Last term, all the year nine students were asked about whether we would be interested in going to the Alpine School in Dinner Plain. Five of us were really intersted in going, but one later dropped out. I was really keen to go, but I was worried about the cost as it was a thousand dollars. We came up with some fundraising ideas which dropped the cost to about five hundred dollars per student. So now, Amy, Tom, Leanna and I are currently working on our CLP (Community Learning Project). We all agreed to run a Mini Relay For Life, which is to raise money and awareness about cancer and the Cancer Council. I'm really excited that it's only 6 days to go although I'm nervous that my roommate will be a psychopath.

Why do you want to go, why are you so excited. Do you want to get away from Mallacoota, from family, do you want to be more independent, do you need that time away from family to appreciate how they love and what they do for you...........do you want to be treated more like an adult.........

Amy:

i first heard about the alpine school in 2009. There has been one other group of girls that have been scince then and when i heard about all their adventures, i was so pumped for my turn.so last term when we found out that we were going, we started on fundraising to reduce the price. we were very sucsessful and manedged to get the price down to $500. so that was pretty cool.
next we had to

Leanna:

In term 2 a few year 9s were ofered a chance to go to Alpine School for 9 weeks. I wanted to go so i found out all the details so i could, Abbie, Amy & Tom also wanted to go. After a few days we organized a few things to raffle so we could reduce the money. I was so excited to go i couldn't wait. We managed to reduce the money to $550, we were all so happy. I'm so excited and can't wait I'm slightly nervous to go because I'm not great with talking to people but I'm going to give it my best shot when get there.

Now that were all going we are currently working on our CLP (Community Learning Project) we have all decided to run a Mini Relay For Life, which is to raise money and awareness about cancer and the Cancer Council.

Tom: I first heard about the alpine school when my sister Sophie went to the Snowy River School in Marlo. i was exicited when it was my turn to come I was in year 7. And now my turn has come im now in year 9 and Amy, Abbie, Leanna and me are on our way to the Alpine wich is in the snow, plus we are going in winter time so it will be so much more exciting. I'm really excited for it i think it will be a great thing for me to go to i think i will grow up a bit more as well. First thing we did was fundraising. To lower the cost and that went really well. We had to organize a CLP (comunity learning project.) we have all been afected by cancer one way or another, So we decided to do a realay for life. I'm pumped i feel so greatfull for this oppitunity only 6 days to go woop woop.

Tom why not use capitals and punctuation correctly? You explain very clearly why you want to go, well done. I'm interested in how each of you have been touched by cancer. Another thing you can do is read each others work and challenege each other to improve it. The best way you can show your gratitude for this opportunity is to show it through your actions - do the best that you possibly can in all tasks put before, continue to rise to the challenge and you will continue to mature in a way that makes both you and your parents proud.
